Android — Chrome

The shortest route. Chrome offers to install it for you.

STEP 1

Open fpv0.com in Chrome

Use a normal tab. Installing is disabled in private browsing. Tap the Install app button on the home page or on this one.

STEP 2

No button? Use the menu

Open the browser menu, the three dots top right, and pick Install app or Add to Home screen.

STEP 3

Confirm the install

Chrome shows the name and icon. Tap Install.

STEP 4

Launch it from the home screen

The icon sits with your other apps. It opens full screen, with no address bar.

STEP 5

Save the maps for offline

Open each map once, or tap Save everything for offline in the map list. Together they come to about 1.4 MB, and after that they open with no connection.

Android — Samsung Internet and other browsers

Here the install lives in the menu, but the result is the same: an icon and offline maps.

STEP 1

Open the browser menu

In Samsung Internet it is the three lines in the bottom bar. In most others it is the three dots next to the address bar.

STEP 2

Find the home screen item

In Samsung Internet it is Add page to, then Home screen. Elsewhere it may read Add to Home screen or Install app. The wording shifts between versions, the meaning does not.

STEP 3

Confirm, then check your home screen

The icon goes where your other apps go. Then fly each map once so they are stored on the phone.

iPhone and iPad — Safari

iOS has no Install button at all. You go through Share.

STEP 1

Tap Share

The square with an arrow: at the bottom of the screen on iPhone, in the top toolbar on iPad. If the iPhone bar is hidden, pull the page down and it comes back.

STEP 2

Choose Add to Home Screen

It sits below the row of apps, so scroll the list a little.

STEP 3

Check the name and tap Add

Keep the name or shorten it. It launches full screen. Once you have opened each map once, they work with no connection.

What changes once it is installed

Four things worth the two taps.

Full screenNo address bar, no tabs, just the feed and the sticks. There isn't much screen on a phone and those extra centimeters show.

Install questions

If yours is not here, the answer is almost certainly yes, it is free, and no, you need nothing.

How much space does it take?

About 1.4 MB for all four maps, the simulator code and the 3D engine, plus the icon and a little browser bookkeeping. On a phone that is less than a single photo.

Do I need internet to fly?

Once. You need it to install and to open each map the first time. After that they load from the phone. You will need it again only to pick up an updated version.

Is it on Google Play or the App Store?

No, and it does not need to be. fpv0 installs directly from the browser: it is the site itself, able to run as an app. No sideloaded files either.

Is it safe?

Yes. What gets installed is the site, not a separate program: the code still runs inside the browser and under its rules. No account, nothing to pay, and no files from strangers.

How do I remove it?

Like any app. On Android, long press the icon and choose Uninstall. On iPhone, long press and choose Delete Bookmark. The space comes back immediately and the site keeps working in the browser as before.

Why is there no Install button?

Usually one of three reasons. You are on an iPhone or iPad, where the button does not exist and you install through Share, then Add to Home Screen. Or it is already installed, and the browser hides the button. Or the page is open inside a messenger or social app browser, or in private browsing: copy fpv0.com and open it in Chrome or Samsung Internet directly.

Are the phone controls the same as on a computer?

Same physics, different input. Instead of a keyboard or a radio you get two on-screen sticks in a Mode 2 layout: left for throttle and yaw, right for pitch and roll. The throttle can hold its position the way a real transmitter does, staying where you left it.
